ABB Oslo Running For the Mission at Nor-Shipping

The final countdown to the first #NorRun begins – registration closes at midnight tonight

Today is the final day before the online registration desk closes for The Mission to Seafarers Nor-Shipping charity 5 km fun run, which kicks off in Oslo on Monday 1 June at 6.30pm.

The first #NorRun has captured the imagination of hundreds of Nor-Shipping delegates and we are delighted that we will be able to raise vital funds for seafarers in need around the world through this new global charity challenge event.

Tamie Barnes is one such Nor-Shipping fun runner and she is leading a whole team from ABB Group in Oslo who will take part. She said: “ABB supports their employees and encourages sporty teamwork related activities and events, most recently at The Oslo Relay Race - Holmenkollstafetten - on the 9 May. So when participation in the Mission Nor-Shipping fun run was proposed by my fellow staff member Louise Skak, we were thrilled to join in to help seafarers in need.”

Louise Skak at ABB is an experienced marathon runner. She said ‘I grab every opportunity to get out and run, and a Monday evening in Oslo before an intense week at Nor-shipping is the perfect kick off. Not only can we meet in our sneakers and sportswear, we can compete too and contribute to a good cause and this is why running is SO GREAT. You can run everywhere, whenever and for many reasons. ABB is very proud of the number of employees that have signed up to run and show their support for The Mission to Seafarers. We look forward to seeing many maritime friends and colleagues out on the course.”

ABB are one of the main sponsors of Nor-Shipping week and are global leaders in power and automation technologies. The Nor-Shipping fun run is being very generously sponsored by DNV GL, one of the world’s leading consulting, testing and classification organizations.

Registration is just kr. 200/$23 if you pledge to raise a minimum of kr. 1000 ($118) in sponsorship, or kr. 400/$47 as a one-off registration fee.
