For the second time just a few weeks, the Danish lifeboat producer Xervo can announce an order for lifeboats from one of the world’s largest offshore companies. This time it is the CAT-J Mariner, to be built at Jurong Shipyard for Noble Drilling. The rig will be the first outside of the Norwegian sector with lifeboats that live up to the NORSOK R-002 standard.

The Danish lifeboat producer Xervo is forging ahead with its state-of-the-art Boat-In-A-Box system for lifeboats and rescue boats.  For the second time in just a few weeks, the company is announcing a major order, this time for the coming jack-up rig CAT-J Mariner. Jurong Shipyard, which will build the rig, has in co-operation with Noble Drilling chosen to equip the rig with four Boat-In-A-Box lifeboats and one Boat-In-A-Box rescue boat.

”We’re proud of the trust that Jurong Shipyard and Noble Drilling have shown us with this order. We look forward to being able to deliver, in close co-operation with the rig designer Gusto in Holland, a finished quality product based on a number of specifications. It was also important for us to be able to make our knowledge and know-how available throughout in the process, so that the solution was designed correctly right from the start,” says Esben Juul Sørensen, CEO at Xervo.

Safety now higher on the agenda
With Boat-In-A-Box, CAT-J Mariner is the first rig outside the Norwegian sector that will be built to the NORSOK R-002 standard. Juul Sørensen sees this as a breakthrough for maritime safety.

”We have the basic belief that employees deserve the best possible equipment, but we also know that parameters like costs and supplier reliability are very important.  That’s why we’re very satisfied to see that customers looking at these parameters choose our products, meaning that safety is being prioritized higher on the agenda,” says Juul Sørensen.

A solid market position
The order shows that Xervo is cementing its position in the market for high-end lifeboats, says Juul Sørensen.

“We have actually won every single order for new jack-up rigs that have been built according to the NORSOK standards,” he says. “This range of projects gives us good financial ballast and puts us in the position to further develop products, so we can continue to have a competitive product and live up to the future rules from the Petroleum Authority in Norway.  This will benefit current as well as future customers.”
