Swiftships Starts Welding Academy
With the goal of training and certifying experienced welders in the aluminum trade, Swiftships has begun what is now known as Swiftships Welding Academy. The welding academy is a 6-8 week course in which potential Swiftships welders will be trained to master their trade to meet ABS and USCG regulations. Upon entering the course students will receive a salary based on their skill level. After successfully completing the academy and certification exam, students will join Swiftships production team as masters of their trade.
Earlier in the month the company christened a 175 foot DP-2 fast supply vessel (FSV) for Rodi Marine of Lafayette. Christening the vessel, dubbed the Riley Claire, took place in Morgan City where Miss Riley Claire herself busted the traditional bottle of bubbly on the bow of the newly built FSV. Swiftships is proud to be the boat builder of Rodi Marine's first new build. The second vessel, the Mason G, will be a replica of this FSV and is scheduled to be delivered later this year.
