At a ceremony held in Bellingham, Washington on Saturday, Sept. 7, Capt. John A. Piotrowski was honored by his colleagues at Polar Tankers/ConocoPhillips.

John was retiring as Commodore of the Polar fleet, a title given to the longest-serving Captain - with a total of 44 years at sea.

John was graduated from NY Maritime College in 1969, and began sailing as Master on ARCO tankers in 1978.

Also in attendance were John’s wife, Susan, their daughter Michelle and her husband Mike.  Capt. Piotrowski intends to take it easy for awhile, and then do some consulting work.
