Muir Winches Takes Top Australian Exporter Award

The Club Marine Australian Marine Export and Superyacht Industry Awards are presented annually to reward the outstanding achievements of Australian marine industry exporters and superyacht industry manufacturers, service providers and industry individuals. 

This year Muir Winches Australia was awarded the ‘2014 Exporter of the Year’ and ‘Best Marine Industry Export Performance – Large Exporter’ awards at the 2014 Club Marine Australian Marine Export and Superyacht Industry Awards Gala Dinner in Sanctuary Cove, Queensland.

Muir designs and manufactures the most extensive selection of anchor windlasses and equipment available on the world market for pleasure craft, mega yachts and commercial vessels from 5m (16ft) to over 150m (499ft). Managing director Matthew Johnston said “The last few years had been tough for all Australian marine exporters but there is still a good market for quality products in this competitive global market and Australia continues to hold its own”.

GME was awarded the prestigious ‘Best Marine Industry Export Marketing Strategy’ award. GME is a privately owned Australian company established in 1959. The GME Marine Division designs, manufactures and distributes a broad range of marine electronics products for both recreational and professional markets. The exported product line includes VHF and HF two-way radios, emergency beacons, entertainment systems, active/passive antennas and accessories.

Arctic Steel won the ‘Best Export Performance – Small Exporter’ award. Arctic Steel designs and manufacturers a range of cast stainless steel seawater strainers. It has developed a global reputation for strength, reliability and performance.  The robust and clever design ensures longevity and outstanding filtration performance. These strainers protect marine diesel engines, generators and air conditioning units from debris present in raw seawater used for cooling.

Superior was awarded ‘Best Marine Export Performance – Medium Exporter’. Superior manufactures a variety of marine berthing systems, industrial floatation and accessories for commercial, domestic, private and government clients. Superior has been owned by John and Jackie Hogan since 2002, when it was purchased from the original founder. 2013 marked Superior's 25th anniversary.
