Moose Boats, a boat designer and manufacturer in the San Francisco Bay Area, has delivered a new M1-44 Catamaran Patrol Boat to Bridgeport Police Department on Long Island Sound.

The M1-44 all-aluminum catamaran is powered by twin Cummins QSC8.3 600hp marine turbo diesel engines coupled via TwinDisc MG5075SC transmissions to twin Hamilton 322 water-jets with Hamilton Blue Arrow Controls. The vessel named “John Jack Flynn III” features a generous fully enclosed cabin complete with shock mitigating seats, galley, dinette and workstation. A head and berth are located in the forward cuddy cabin.

Complete Hamilton Blue Arrow controls with networked navigation and radio communications equipment at both the Helm and Upper Fly Bridge Stations provide the M1-44’s crew with full command of the vessel from either location.

The City of Bridgeport utilized a Fiscal Year 2009 Port Security Grant Program award to purchase the Moose Boats M1-44’. The vessel now patrols the deep-water port of Bridgeport Harbor and Long Island Sound to provide critical infrastructure protection for the PSE&G power plant, oil storage facilities, Amtrak and Metro-North rail corridor, Sikorsky Aircraft facility and private marinas. The new Moose Boat is also responsible for local law enforcement, disabled vessel assistance, EMS response, Search and Rescue and Dive Operations.

The addition of Bridgeport PD’s M-44 brings the existing fleet of Moose Boats in Law Enforcement and Fire Fighting applications in the Northeastern United States to a total of eighteen with a further eight vessels being delivered to various high profile agencies in the area by Spring of 2015.
