Fathom Announces Second Edition of Ship Efficiency: The Guide

Fathom, the market intelligence specialists on maritime eco- efficiency, announces the launch of a fully revised, updated and extended second edition of the key industry reference source, Ship Efficiency: The Guide.

Published May 2, 2013 2:47 PM by The Maritime Executive

Published with supporting partner BIMCO, the world’s largest shipowners association, Ship Efficiency: The Guide is the only industry publication that not only critically examines fuel saving technologies but also defines and analyses the providers of the technologies, their claims and viability.

The Guide has been fully revised since the last edition, published over two years ago with in-depth critique of over 220 products across over 60 technology categories from more than 100 providers.

Commercially, owners and operators have never faced greater pressure to reduce fuel costs. The new edition of the guide has been developed to meet the great appetite for knowledge of fuel saving efficiency technologies and measures.

Alison Jarabo, managing director Fathom commented “Fuel and emission saving is absolutely crucial to profitable future shipping operations.

It is a mark of the rapid evolution of this market that the publication has over doubled in size since its first edition.”

Ship Efficiency: The Guide 2nd Edition provides an accurate reflection of the current maritime efficiency market. It includes new chapters, including ‘Energy Management Software Solutions’ plus additional content, case studies and expanded critique of the eco-efficiency technologies.

Alison Jarabo went on to say: “Fathom is about creating intellectual capital so that vessels and operators work smarter, not harder. As we predicted in 2011, the Guide has become an important industry reference tool as technologies and measures develop and are increasingly deployed. Our 2013 edition confirms our commitment providing a valuable informational service on a changing and dynamic sector.

Fathom has always has as its core mission to meet the marine industry's intelligence needs in eco-efficiency in order to maximise the economics of operations that must adapt to increasingly complex regulatory and economic pressures.”
