Delta "T" Launches 12-Ton Cranston Eagle Hook
Answering market demand, Cranston Eagle has introduced a 12-ton capacity fall-mounted offload hook. Its exclusive US agent, Delta "T" Systems, has also secured its first order for the new model. A pair will be installed on a new hyperbaric rescue chamber launch gantry, bound for a new Class 335 lift boat for commercial divers in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Cranston Eagle 30-DPR-1206-CS marine offload hook is fabricated from duplex stainless steel for strength and safety. Its 12-ton capacity is the highest among Cranston Eagle's offerings. Standard design features include a quick release mechanism with pull cable, and a lock inspection hole. Like all of the company's products, it's proof loaded to 2.2 x SWL/WLL per SOLAS regulations, then tested and inspected for proper operation.
The launch gantry is being designed and engineered by FMS Engineering. It will incorporate the new 12-ton Cranston Eagle hook onto a Welin Lambie HRCW 11.4 A winch. This Welin Lambie model is ABS certified, with a safe working load of 25 tons. It meets the required controlled gravity lowering rate for the rescue chamber, at approximately 128 ft./min. FMS Engineering is in the process of securing ABS approval for the new Cranston Eagle 30-DPR-1206-CS hook model.
Arc Controls is building the hyperbaric rescue chamber and launch gantry. It will stand ready on the new lift boat, should an emergency occur requiring immediate hyperbaric chamber treatment for saturation divers.
FMS and Welin Lambie had previously cooperated on a similar but smaller launch gantry in 2009. Familiar with the robust quality and durability of Cranston Eagle release hooks, Grahame Baker of Welin Lambie suggested their use for the current project.
"Increasing the life cycle of marine equipment requires a dedicated company that understands both the customer and regulatory requirements," he said. "Delta 'T' Systems has introduced a level of product support that is essential, basically making a good product better." Bret Faircloth of FMS Engineering added, "We needed a high-capacity hook on a tight deadline. Luckily, Delta 'T' Systems was able to accommodate both needs. They've been very helpful and easy to work with."
Welin Lambie is known for its wide range of davits and winches for commercial marine, military, oil rig and other applications. FMS Engineering provides design and engineering services for saturation diving companies and other industries. Arc Controls serves marine, industrial and government clients with its range of pressure vessels for human occupancy. Delta "T" Systems is the US source for parts, service, classification society witnessed load testing and recertification of Cranston Eagle hooks.
