COSL Prospector Orders Rolasolv? Blackout Roller Blinds
Solar Solve Marine has won a large contract to supply it’s class approved LITETITE® flame retardant blackout roller blinds to the COSL Prospector – a semi-submersible drilling rig under construction in China for COSL Drilling Europe AS, Stavanger, Norway. It will be certified according to DNV Class and designed and constructed to comply with the requirements for operations in harsh environment on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. It will also be capable of operations in winterized areas like the Barents Sea, Greenland and Canada, and will be delivered with class notation ICE-T, Winterized Basic. The rig will be able to operate in water depths of 1,500 meters and capable of drilling to a maximum depth of 25,000 feet (just over 4.7 miles!) It will be one of the first drilling units in the world to have the DNV Clean Class notation.

The blackout range of fabrics are ideal for accommodation area windows and available in a wide choice of fabrics and operating systems.
Carl Johnson, Operations Director at Solar Solve commented, “This order for LITETITE® blackout roller blinds was quite significant with a total investment of about £22,000 for Weihai Baiyun Shipbuilding in China. The yard are now in the process of completing the outfitting of the rig and installing the blackout roller blinds at the cabin windows so the crew can get a good rest during the day or night.”
