Boris Wenzel, New COO of Noatum
Boris Wenzel, former CEO of DCT Gdansk, a Polish container company with the fastest growth worldwide, and considered Europe’s gateway to Eastern Europe and Russia, has been appointed new COO (Chief Operations Manager) of Noatum as of 2nd of May.
Wenzel will relieve John Erwin Thomsen who became Noatum’s first manager and was hired by the Infrastructures Fund of JP Morgan in the acquisition process of Dragados SPL in 2009 and who will be retiring.
John Erwin Thomsen, a merchant navy Master with more than 30 years’ experience in both the maritime and ports sector started working at the land-based organization of Maersk as Port’s Captain of Algeciras in 1984. He held several positions until he was appointed Manager of the Terminal in 1995. In 2000 he held different positions of responsibility at Maersk in both Denmark and Algeciras. Between 2007 and 2008, and before entering Noatum, he was Regional Operations Manager of APM Terminals in Muscat, Oman.

John has been a reference for the port sector in Spain and we thank him for his professional service to the company”.
Thomsen’s replacement Wenzel has extensive knowledge of the ports sector, with experience in different business environments in Europe, Asia and Latin America. His professional career includes positions with DCT Gdansk SA, PSA International, Macquarie Bank, ESCO Group, Bangkok Bank of Commerce, the French Embassy and Ernst & Young.
