Siemens Launches Version 2.0 of Online Support App

Siemens Industry announced the release of a new version of its breakthrough Siemens Industry Online Support mobile application that can be downloaded for free from the Apple iTunes Store or Android Market. Available for Android, iPhone and the iPad.  Perfect for the maritime industry and for use on vessels, the app provides additional functionality and access to more than 300,000 documents including FAQs, firmware or software downloads, product manuals, certifications, application examples and tools, as well as news about all Siemens Industry products.

The mobile app is an extension of the Siemens Industry Online Support portal, a comprehensive information system for all service and support inquiries for Siemens’ products and solutions. It facilitates direct, central access to a substantial knowledge base for products, systems and applications, and offers a wide range of programming, configuration and application examples.

Customers can access the portal from the mobile app, which provides support at any time of the day while on the go, eliminating the need to call customer service or have computer access to submit a support request.

Version 2.0 of the app has several new features that provide customers more convenient options when it comes to their support needs. The four new components are a product scanner, product view, mobile submission of support requests, and an offline cache.

The product scanner uses the integrated cameras in smartphones and tablets to scan product codes and look up information regarding a specific product. The product view feature shows all of the information about the product in one place – lifecycle status, updates, manuals, etc. Customers also can now submit support requests and photos directly from the app.

Another new feature is the offline cache which enables customers access to all of the app’s features even if they have no signal. Customers can store product information offline or create PDFs and save them to their smartphones or tablets so the information is available when and where they need it.
