Wood in Dubai to participate in the Dubai Desert Classic
Rising golf star Chris Wood is the latest addition to GAC’s stable of brand ambassadors.
Global logistics and shipping company GAC signed a one-year sponsorship deal with the English professional golfer, one of the most promising young players on the European golf circuit and winner of the PGA European Tour’s 2009 Rookie of the Year award.
The sponsorship deal was sealed yesterday by Stuart Bowie, GAC Group Sales Director and Chris Wood, at the GAC Corporate Headquarters in Jebel Ali, Dubai. Chris Wood is in Dubai to participate in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, which takes place from 10 – 13 February 2011 at the Emirates Golf Course.
The 23-year-old burst onto the scene with a top four finish at the 2009 Open Championship, which secured him a spot in the 2010 Masters Tournament, and went on to clinch the European Tour’s 2009 Rookie of the Year honours. He finished 10th at the recent Barclays Open in Singapore.
“Chris Wood is one of Europe’s most promising professional golfers with an increasingly global appeal. Our association with this fast-rising star will enable us to widen our global brand visibility and recognition, and complements our rapidly developing business by reflecting our future ambitions,” says Bowie.
Chris Wood adds: “I am delighted to be the brand ambassador for GAC – a leader in the worldwide shipping and logistics industry - and I’m very excited at the opportunity to work with such a globally reputed organisation that shares my commitment to excellence. I look forward to working together with the GAC team and I hope I can bring value to the GAC brand through my skills and efforts on the golf course.”
As brand ambassador, Chris Wood will attend and support GAC corporate golf events as well as appear in international tournaments under the GAC banner.
