Former Royal Marine Raped and Murdered on French Island
Former Royal Marine and maritime security guard, Carl Davies, was found dead in a ravine on Reunion Island recently. It was initially believed that he had fallen to his death on the island where he was helping to protect ships from piracy in the Indian Ocean.
However, further investigations have revealed that Davies suffered a brutal sexual attack before being beaten, stabbed and thrown into the roadside ravine near a military barracks. This incident was previously recorded as an accident, until a judge ordered a second examination of his body revealing the extensive injuries and rape. All of his belongings remained untouched ruling out theft. A murder investigation has been launched with assistance from a British detective team.

On the night of his death, Carl had been out with two other shipmates from the Cyprus-registered MV Atlantic Trader. After visiting several local bars, it is being reported that Davies left the company of his friends and was planning on taking a taxi back to the container vessel where he was employed. Unfortunately, his body was found the next morning. He was only on the island since November 7th and his body was found on November 9th.
People close to Davies believe his murder was a cover-up to protect the image of the French territory as it is heavily dependent on tourism.
