Cruise Ship Passenger Missing at Sea

A passenger is missing from the Fred Olsen cruise liner, BALMORAL, after falling overboard.

The 79-year-old British man was reported missing by his wife early Monday morning, while the ship was cruising through the English Channel off the French coast. French Coast Guard was notified at 9:30 a.m. and spent all of Monday searching with no success. Late Monday as the sun set the search was called off.

The Balmoral was returning to England after a 21-day Adriatic cruise. The ship arrived in Dover at 7 a.m. Tuesday where a full investigation by the Kent Police Department has been launched.
