On its return voyage Saturday to the Port of Miami, the Carnival Valor, rescued three U.S. citizens and a cat from a damaged boat approximately 12 miles off the coast of Cuba.
The three men onboard the disabled boat used mirrors to let the cruise ship know they were in distress. Passengers onboard the cruise ship report that the boat was damaged, and had a small dingy attached to the back that was whipping the vessel around in the rough waters.
News-Press of Southwest Florida reports that the boat became disabled after the rope pulling the dingy got tangled in the vessel’s rudder. The three Southwest Florida men onboard were travelling to Mexico.
Crew onboard the Carnival Valor pulled the three to safety, along with a cat who was along for the trip to Mexico. All three men and even the cat are reportedly in good health.
The cruise ship arrived as scheduled into the Port of Miami on Sunday morning.
