“Debra’s professionalism and commitment to the American Salvage Association have been invaluable in helping to get the word out to key stakeholders about the importance of the salvage industry to North America,” said ASA President Tim Beaver. “Beyond that, we appreciate the friendship ASA members have enjoyed with Debra. While we are sad to lose her, at the same time we are very happy for her to have this new opportunity. We know that Debra will be a tremendous asset for WCI, and that she will continue to succeed in her endeavors on their behalf. And while we are losing Debra from our staff, we are pleased to welcome her into our ranks as an honorary Associate Member.”
Going forward, Anne Burns will provide communications counsel to ASA. Burns previously led the public affairs and communications advocacy efforts for the American Waterways Operators for 12 ½ years, and recently started her own business, Anne Davis Burns Communications, specializing in maritime industry communications. Anne and Debra have collaborated for years on issues of importance to WCI and AWO, and share a mutual personal and professional respect and admiration.
