PRIMARY and SECONDARY SCHOOLS in AMERICA
April 1-3, 2008, hosted by MITAGS (www.mitags.org) in Linthicum, Maryland
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: EMPLOYERS, EDUCATORS, ADMINISTRATORS
Educators: Find out about maritime primary and secondary schools:
- Who has started them and where are they located
- How to start a school and what resources are available
- Building support for your program along with the right coalition of partners
- How to create mentoring programs and internship opportunities
Employers: You face critical staffing issues in the Maritime Industry:
- Help introduce a new generation to potential job opportunities
- Support the development of the future maritime workforce
- Build relationships with entities to develop workers that meet your needs
- Support potential feeder mechanisms for your future workforce
The first two days of the conference are designed to facilitate a series of small workshops allowing participants to discuss areas of most interest to them, culminating with results presented at the end of the second day. The third day is an SOCP meeting.
The conference will include Congressional, Department of Transportation, Department of Labor, Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security, Industry & Labor participation with addresses from Congressman Elijah Cummings & Maritime Administrator Sean Connaughton
