Suez Canal Closed Due to Grounding

The "Tropic Brilliance," a Sovcomflot owned and operated double-hulled tanker, grounded near the 73km marker, and more than 47 ships have been halted in mid-canal.
The 1992, 154972 deadweight tanker, was fully loaded with crude oil. There was no pollution.

The Suez Canal Authority is coordinating the tanker's re-floating, and a salvage master from Smit Salvage will be in charge. The Authority is sending in a smaller tanker to off load the 25,000 tons of crude oil and there is no timeframe to reopen the canal.
