The Royal Navy Chose Exigo PAGA for its New Vessels

RFA Tidespring is the first of four of the Royal Navy's new support vessels that will all be equipped with our EXIGO system. A dual PAGA system A and B cabinet.

Each cabinet will consist of:

Contract for delivery to Royal Navy’s MARS tankers

As an industry leader in the supply, installation and maintenance of maritime electronics, Ship Electronic Services (SES) has won a contract with Finmeccanica – Selex ES. The contract is for supplying the Royal Navy with Vingtor-Stentofon’s EXIGO Public Address General Alarm system (PAGA).

The MARS tankers will be the new logistic support vessels operated by the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA). Their role is preserving the replenishment of fuel, food, water and supplies for the Royal Navy’s warships and task groups at sea. The tankers are now under construction by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea.

The MARS vessel’s communication system has benefits that include fast, easy to use, flexible assignment of communications circuits and control of equipment characteristics. The communication system is designed to optimize the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy’s communication in maritime operations.

Maritime investment in the United Kingdom

The MARS tankers are designed with the future in mind with the allowance of upgrades and emergence of technologies. The United Kingdom’s government is committed to invest in the maritime capabilities to ensure that the Royal Navy remains the quality of the fighting force. The 650 foot long ships will replace the single-hulled Rover and Leaf class of tankers. This will be one element of the future total afloat support capability.

The ship can have a crew of 63 and it is provided with accommodations for an additional 46 embarked personnel.

A longtime collaboration

Zenitel and SES have a long standing cooperation, supplying internal communications systems to the maritime industry.

The first vessel, RFA Tidespring, has arrived in Falmouth, UK and is ready for the final stage of work which will bring her into service. In a statement Harriet Baldwin, Minister for Defense Procurement, mentioned how the communications equipment will be installed in Falmouth.

The vessel is a 39,000- ton tanker and can carry 19,000 cubic meters of fuel and 1,300 cubic meters of fresh water. RFA Tidespring will join the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, the civilian-manned fleet which provides support for warships, helping the Royal Navy maintain operations around the world.
