Radio Holland received an order for a navigation and communication package for a 250-passenger, aluminum catamaran ferry built by Thecla Bodewes Shipyards (TB Shipyards, headquartered in Harlingen, Netherlands).  With an innovative design by Conoship International, the new ferry is being built for Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei Föhr-Amrum (WDR) and will operate between the German Wadden islands. The catamaran is expected to be delivered in Q1 2019.

Theunis Eelkema, Sales Manager at the Radio Holland Delfzijl office, comments: “Because this vessel has a special class notation as a lightweight, seagoing vessel and it is a new Conoship design, we cooperated closely with the yard and customer to ensure the specifications and scope of supply are ideally suited for this extraordinary ship. This specific scope of supply and a tight integration with the ships electrical installation ensures the ferry can sail with a three-man crew. Radio Holland will supply a complete Nav/Com package, an important part being Furuno equipment.”

The WDR catamaran will be equipped with the Furuno X-Band Chart Radar FAR-3210 and the X-Band Radar FAR-1518 with high-speed radar scanners, as well as a Phontech Public Address/intercom system. Radio Holland also provides a range of other Furuno equipment including the GPS/satellite compass, Echosounder, Speedlog and AIS. This project will be executed in a tight schedule of 10 weeks.
