Portrix Logistic Software (PLS), the leading developer of logistics rates management solutions, has released a major upgrade of its Global Price Management (GPM) software, GPM 2.5. The revamp, drawing on PLS’ 15 years of expertise in the niche segment, introduces a new user-interface design to further simplify a product delivering enhanced clarity, productivity and value to the complicated process of managing multi-modal logistics costs and surcharges.

PLS is the trusted choice of the freight forwarding industry, with five of the top ten global names choosing GPM. The new release, GPM 2.5, illustrates PLS’ commitment to continual development, drawing on its unique software toolbox and wealth of master data to improve user experience.

“The world of ocean freight rates, and logistics rates in general, is increasingly complex,” states Henning Voss, Co-founder and CEO of the Hamburg headquartered business. “The landscape changes from day to day, with a seemingly endless succession of surcharges, coupled to a rate outlook that is anything but predictable.

“In this environment, freight forwarders need all the help they can get to ensure invoices are correct, rates and services can be accurately compared by users across entire organizations (allowing them to choose the right partners), and total transportation prices can be simply evaluated. This is what GPM delivers, optimizing processes, removing manual work and giving simple, effective and actionable oversights.”

“The new release ensures these benefits are delivered in a manner that is even easier to understand, with increased value for end users.”

GPM’s upgrade features numerous highlights. Users can now access new depths of information on a single screen, showing their sell rate to customers, their total buy rate from providers for a movement, and the net-rate, which deducts all discounts provided by partners. In addition, the software offers minimum sell rates.

“This is another powerful part of the solution offering,” Voss comments. “By integrating an advanced ‘sales mark-up’ algorithm into the software we can give our customers the minimum levels they can go to market with. This allows them to brief sales staff on the exact levels they can negotiate at, providing a uniform pricing strategy and giving them a real competitive advantage.

“Because we’ve been focused on this sector for so long, working hand-in-hand with our customers every day, we know what they need and how to deliver that in a dynamic marketplace. As a result GPM 2.5 is the most comprehensive rate management software package available, tailored specifically for the demands of today’s forwarders and shippers.”

GPM 2.5 is available for purchase, through a standard license, or on a ‘software as a service’ (SaaS) agreement, whereby PLS operates the software on its own servers and makes it available online. GPM 2.5 can be easily integrated into any existing IT infrastructure and third party systems.
