UGLYcargo assists shippers when they struggle to find a carrier. The online application is designed both to assist the shipper in finding an appropriate carrier at competitive prices and supporting the carrier in maximizing their load capacity.

UGLYcargo gives shippers cargo the ability to be seen by all carriers – where cargo finds its place.

  • Compare different offers from carriers within UGLYcargo
  • Get to know new players in the market and get connected in one place
  • Available on all devices like smartphones, tablets and computers
  • Secure website for registered users only
  • UGLYcargo does not act as brokers
  • FREE to test until 1st January 2016

UGLYcargo provides their users with multiple tools for freight companies to place details of the cargo to be shipped and carriers to search for additional cargo to fill their vessels. Using UGLYcargo is totally free, only when an offer has been accepted, a fixed booking fee is charged.

“In the increasingly competitive shipping environment the UGLYcargo application aims to provide an economical and time efficient means of introducing shippers to carriers and specifically for shippers who do not have a full shipment to find and carriers who do not have a full deck load” said UGLYcargo Director, Captain Michael Warneke who went on to say “Left over pieces of project cargo / break bulk or general cargo is exactly the type of cargo that would be placed on the application hence the name UGLYcargo.”

The concept was first introduced at the Europe Breakbulk Exhibition in May 2015 where it was met with an enthusiastic and positive response. With feedback from the exhibition, the innovative concept has been further refined to encompass the needs and requirements of both shippers and carriers.

At the recent Middle Eastern Breakbulk Exhibition, held in October in Abu Dhabi, the company secured a number of clients not only from the largest carriers in the market but also a host of smaller carriers. “The response was overwhelming” said UGLYcargo Director Oliver Charmak, he went to explain “Once registered, shippers were given a private and secure account to which they could upload all details of their cargo (i.e. weights, dimensions and destinations). These accounts are managed online and modified through their home screen via a laptop, phone, or tablet.  When these details have been placed on uglycargo.com they can only be viewed by registered carriers who are then free to make an offer to the anonymous shipper for the transportation of each cargo. The shipper is alerted to the carriers offer and only upon acceptance of the carrier’s offer that a booking fee is charged to both parties by UGLYcargo.

Captain Michael Warneke stressed that the company was totally independent within the shipping industry and do not have preferred carriers, shippers or give advice as to whom to choose. “All we are doing is providing an online market place where the shipper gives details of their cargo requirements and the registered carrier says, ‘Yes, I have room for that cargo on my ship going from point A to B and I can do it at a specified price’. All services up to this point are free.”

Instead of sending hundreds of emails on a daily basis to find a vessel or cargo, you only need to upload the information on the market place once and the application will do the work for you.
