Chantiers de l'Atlantique to Open its Own School Next Autumn
Chantiers de l'Atlantique is to launch L’École Chantiers de l’Atlantique, a training center which aims at sustaining some specific skills of the shipyard. L’École Chantiers de l’Atlantique will offer a skills training course on metal carpenter, welder and pipefitter jobs, for which the current labor market is not sufficient to cover the company's recruitment needs.
It will allow those who wish and have the ability to benefit from “sandwich courses” while becoming employees, and those who are already employees, to maintain their skills.
L’École Chantiers de l’Atlantique will train some 50 persons per year by 2022, offering 80 percent of practical training in real work situations, taught by professionals from the shipyard.
To house the School, a completely dedicated structure is being developed at the shipyard site. With a surface of 450 m2, the center will be equipped with the same technical means present in the workshops, thus ensuring adapted training, close to real work situations.
Starting next fall, L’École Chantiers de l'Atlantique will open its doors to a dozen trainees to help them acquire the skills required to work as metal carpenters. The number of trainees and trades prepared (welders and pipefitters) will increase gradually.
