Polferries puts yet a ferry in service to Poland. From Ystad there are now six daily connections to ?winouj?cie and Port of Ystad once again strengthens the position as market leader for ferry service between Poland and Sweden.

Polferries has during a number of years operated ferry service between ?winouj?cie and Ystad and increases now the service with yet a ferry. It is the RoPax ferry m/s Baltivia from Polferries’ route Gdansk-Nynäshamn that now instead will call Ystad in the evening. The ferry arrives at 19.00 and departs at 21.30. “-We are of course very satisfied about Polferries venture” the Managing Director of Port of Ystad, Björn Boström states. “It is obvious, that Ystad is the natural connection with Poland.”

Since the 1970’s, Ystad has been the leading port for daily ferry service between Sweden and Poland. During the years the volumes have increased, even in times of crisis and recession 2008/2009. In 2012 Port of Ystad had following market shares: passengers 44%, salon cars 58%, busses 43% and trucks/trailers 43%.

The launching of yet a ferry comes after a time when the market, in spite of crisis and recession, has kept on increasing and there often is lack of capacity on the route from Ystad. “-We are positive that the increased service comes at the right time and we wish Polferries all the best with the coming development” Björn Boström concludes.
