The Swedish CleanTech Company Sorubin Supports the Skype Billionaire Niklas Zennstr?m?s Project Race For The Baltic
The successful Swedish CleanTech company Sorubin that market and sell energy effective aerators for the water industries now supports the Skype billionaire Niklas Zennström in his project to hurry up a solution for the acute problems of the dying Baltic Sea. Sorubin was recently selected as Sweden’s Hottest CleanTech Company.
The Swedish CleanTech company Sorubin has during its short existence rapidly gained market acceptance for their energy effective aerator OptusAir with orders from, for instance the World’s largest food and drinks producer, Nestlé. Sorubin’s vortex aerators have the potential to lower the energy expenditure for aeration with up to 90 percent. On a structural basis, this means savings of one half of a percent of EU’s total energy expenditure. Lately, Sorubin has received several awards, including Global Top 100, Sweden’s Hottest CleanTech Company in the magazine Green Solutions and Greentech Top 3 as one of Sweden’s three hottest CleanTech start-ups.
With their vortex aerators, OptusAir, Sorubin has in only a few years managed to capture important market shares in several segments of the large market for aerators and passed the 25 percent market penetration of the segment of aeration of Swedish municipal landfill leachate dams.
- It made us very happy that Niklas Zennström’s team contacted us for participation in this important project. It’s a matter of course for us to support this important initiative. The Baltic Sea will not get well without significant action and new ways of denitrification of wastewater, tightened emissions and new visions for the agribusiness. We place great trust in the New Water Directive from EU to come in to effect in 2015. We are proud to do our part, says Stefan Sandström, CEO, Sorubin.
The magazine Green Solutions is one of the organs that puts the spotlight on Sweden’s position as one of the leading countries within CleanTech. For that reason it is not surprising that the dying Baltic Sea is seen as a political contradiction to Sweden’s strong position on the global CleanTech arena. Marine biologists say over 10% of the ocean floor of the Baltic Sea is dead and that the biodiversity continues to be threatened through over fishing
- I understand that this can be embarrassing from a political point of view, but this is where we actually stand with the Baltic Sea. We support Niklas Zennström’s project because it spurs action here and now, looking at the problem as it is. This project is aimed at a bright future for all, and that deserves our full support. The immediate positive outcome of credible action can only strengthen Sweden as a leading country for CleanTech. Of course our aerators and floating baffles are made available for this important task.
Sorubin is a Swedish CleanTech company that has developed a "next generation" of energy efficient aerators for water treatment on the industrial level. Sorubin’s innovative and patented aerators are energy efficient, quiet and easy to both fit and to retrofit. Sorubins aerators have the potential to reduce electricity consumption by up to 90 percent.
