QinetiQ?s Paramarine Ship and Submersible Design Software

QinetiQ’s Paramarine ship and submersible design software is being used by DCNS to support development of both its French and international submarine projects. DCNS, who design, build and support submarines and surface combatants, is using Paramarine for both submarine stability and early stage design on projects such as the Barracuda, the latest generation of French nuclear submarines, as well as in the development of the Scorpène diesel-electric attack class submarines.

Paramarine is based on 20 years’ experience in marine design and has a wealth of submarine specific analyses in one integrated product. The recent launch of the latest version of Paramarine (V8) has further extended the software’s functionality with the introduction of probabilistic damage modelling and assessment, as well as enhancements to its emergency response, reporting, and stability assessment capabilities. Confidence in its capabilities comes from the independent validation of results and approval for use by the UK MOD.
