[Photos] Rodriguez Delivers Third Tug to Garber Bros

Rodriguez Boat Builders has delivered the Sea Otter to Garber Bros, Inc. in Morgan City, Louisiana.

She is the third tugboat Rodriguez has delivered to Garber, but is different in many ways. She has two 660hp Cummins main engines and swings two 64" diam. S.S. propellers, however, with needed fuel and water onboard for operation, she is capable of less than 6.5' draft.

Joseph Rodriguez at Rodriguez Boat Builders said: “We achieved her minimal draft by way of two ‘tunnels’, which we formed into the stern bottom. These tunnels allow the wheels to be further up therefore, less draft capabilities. We maintained near 12% ‘tip’ clearance from the wheel edges to the hull bottom and ‘egg crated’ the stern area of the boat. As an end result - she performs well, no vibration, and has a lot of power verses draft required.”
