Jee Ltd Expands Training Courses? Geographical and Digital Reach

Published Mar 25, 2013 9:37 AM by The Maritime Executive

Jee Ltd, a UK-based leading independent multi-discipline engineering and training firm, has launched a series of initiatives to update its training courses through geographical expansion and technological innovation.

The company, which provides a range of engineering expertise on a variety of disciplines, will expand the current course schedule to include Lagos, Nigeria, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, making Jee the only globally recognised subsea engineering and training firm to hold public courses in Nigeria.

Jee will send its tutors, all of whom are experienced engineers, to the African and Asian countries from the company’s bases in the UK, where they will conduct courses including subsea systems, subsea pipeline design, and risers, umbilicals and flexibles.

Jee managing director, Trevor Jee said: “Our decision to introduce our courses to Nigeria was largely based on the country’s established market and growth potential in the energy industry. The country is a key region for oil and gas exploration, with a significant percentage of its GDP coming from oil revenue. With Nigeria set to increase its exploration focus to deep offshore areas in the coming years, we wanted to bring our courses to the forefront and support this development.

“We have been delivering ‘in-house’ courses to companies in Nigeria and Malaysia for many years and the demand has now increased to a point where the next step is to offer a range of public courses in addition to these. This is a great achievement for Jee and aligns with our commitment to progress our global market offering and our overall plan for growth.”

In addition to geographical expansion, Jee has added a mobile element to its courses with the company’s first mobile training app, Jeenius, designed to complement Jee’s world-renowned course notes.  Jee’s course notes are one of many elements that set them apart from competitors. With each volume being professionally printed and annotated with tutor comments, they are essential reference material.

Designed for ease of use and to enhance the delegates’ learning experience, Jeenius includes a PDF reader for easy access, and users can bookmark points of interest, comment and highlight. It is available to delegates who have attended courses in the past two years or are currently enrolled on any of Jee’s courses.

Mr Jee continued: “We are proud to be one of the first companies to introduce an app such as Jeenius. This was created as a direct response to delegate feedback, and enables delegates to benefit from our courses at the touch of a button from anywhere in the world, long after they attend a session. Jeenius is especially beneficial to offshore workers, who can access all course notes in one convenient place.”

Jee is a multi-discipline subsea engineering and training company with offices in Tonbridge, London, and Aberdeen. As well as detailed design, FEED, integrity management and engineering analysis services, Jee is a world-leader in non-trenching, fishing interaction, low-cost connectors and lifetime extension – covering the whole of subsea engineering for the whole of life-of-field.
