HMS Ferries, Inc. Welcome New VP

HMS Ferries, Inc., a member of the HMS Global Maritime family of businesses, is proud to announce  Captain Matthew Miller has joined the company as  Vice President of HMS Ferries, Inc. Captain Miller  brings over 29 years of top-tier leadership experience to the position and will be based out of the HMS Ferries, Inc. main office on Bainbridge Island, Washington.

Prior to joining HMS Ferries, Captain Miller served as Chief of Staff for the 13th Coast Guard District in Seattle, Washington. As Chief of Staff, he was the 2nd in command for all Coast Guard operations and personnel in the Pacific Northwest. He was responsible for 4,100 military and civilian personnel, financial management of a $30 million dollar operating budget, and effective and safe operations of 21 ships, 108 boats and 11 aircraft with a total asset value of nearly $300 million dollars. Captain Miller also served as Executive Assistant (Chief of Staff) to the Deputy Commandant for Coast Guard Operations. As the Executive Assistant he directed and led the development and implementation of national level Coast Guard policy and regulations. During this time he authored the Coast Guard’s foundational operating doctrine in Coast Guard Publications 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0. 

As the Vice President of HMS Ferries Inc., Captain Miller will have a key position in the leadership structure of the company. He will work directly with the President and COO in support of company-wide programs and initiatives with a particular emphasis on management systems, regulatory compliance, maritime training and contract compliance. He will also identify and track performance metrics for the company.
