APS Stevedoring LLC Appoints New Vice President
On Jan. 1, 2013, APS Stevedoring LLC, an auto and general cargo/breakbulk stevedoring company headquartered in Long Beach, Calif., appointed Steven K. Nixon as vice president in charge of business development. Reporting directly to President John C. Hering, he will assist with current day-to-day operations as well.
Prior to joining APS Stevedoring, Nixon was employed for 13 years with Marine Terminals Corp. and Ports America in the bulk and breakbulk division, where he held various operational and managerial positions, culminating as vice president of bulk and breakbulk for the U.S.
A seasoned seafarer, Nixon spent 16 years in a sea-going career, during which he sailed vessels worldwide. He earned his foreign-going master’s license in the United Kingdom.
President Hering commented on how Nixon’s operational and executive experience will be a valued asset to the company as it increases its footprint and expands it cargo business.

APS Stevedoring has operations in Richmond, Calif., and Portland, Ore. The company plans to expand throughout the U.S. as opportunities present themselves.
