Seven people were injured when a whale-watching boat hit the dock in San Diego’s Embarcadero on Thursday.

The throttle of the 150-foot Adventure Hornblower is believed to have suffered a malfunction and was stuck in the forward position at the time of the incident.

Three of the injured were taken to hospital with neck, back or leg injuries.

Tugs were needed to push the vessel off the walkway that it hit. The crew opened the snack bar for free food and drink while approximately 140 passengers on board waited two hours to disembark.

The vessel, built in 1994, is operated by Hornblower Cruises and Events.
