Ferry Allides with Pier in San Francisco

A ferry allided with the pier at the San Francisco Ferry Building on Friday afternoon.

Two people received minor injuries, the vessel and pier were damaged, but there are no reports of pollution. 53 passengers were on the vessel at the time.

There appears to have been a mechanical difficulty on the M.S. San Francisco, said a spokeswoman for the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District, which operates the ferry. Media reports cite passengers saying they had no official warning of the impending crash.

The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the incident.
