Cargo Ship Runs Aground Near Prescott

A cargo ship carrying a load of unprocessed steel to Chicago ran aground on the St. Lawrence River Sunday morning.

The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) said the vessel, M.V. Sedna Desgagnes, passed under the international bridge, near Prescott and ran hard aground. There were no injuries reported and no pollution released. TSB will investigate the accident and assess the situation.

According to a TSB member, the marine investigation team will be downloading electronic navigation from the ship and interview crewmembers as to what happened.
