Barge Worker Killed by Tugboat Propeller

A dry dock worker died after a tugboat propeller fell onto him, knocking him into the Mississippi River.

Jason Sagez, 23, of Hardin, Illinois, died of blunt-force trauma to the pelvis, according to the coroner’s office. Sagez was pronounced dead around 6:00 p.m. last Friday. Sagez was employed by National Maintenance & Repair.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing and being handled by the Hartford Police Department and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
