Governor Rick Scott toured ACR Electronics, a leading manufacturer of emergency beacons, based in Fort Lauderdale while pitching his “Fighting for Florida’s Future” tax plan.

Gerry Angeli, ACR’s president, introduced Governor Scott to a packed house of employees and local business leaders. Scott is proposing to exempt more than 20 percent of businesses from having to pay income taxes by increasing corporate tax exemptions from $50,000 to $75,000, which will eliminate taxes for 80 percent of Florida’s companies.

“Manufacturing in the U.S. really makes an impact. ACR not only creates jobs in the U.S., but we also support the local and state economies as well,” Angeli said. “Over the past 60 years, ACR has had the honor of manufacturing lifesaving equipment for military forces, aviation and space programs as well as for maritime industry.”

ACR is a division of Drew Marine of New Jersey and its 55,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Fort Lauderdale employs about 180 workers. ACR is also celebrating its 60 year Diamond Anniversary of designing and manufacturing survival equipment for the marine, aviation, outdoor and military markets.
