O’BRIEN’S previous Command Center was destroyed when Hurricane Katrina devastated the New Orleans area in 2005. “After temporarily relocating to our Houston, Texas office and a considerable evaluation of our current and future operations, we are proud to announce the Grand Opening of our new state-of-the-art facility in Slidell,” commented Tim Perkins, CEO of The O’BRIEN’S Group.

The Command Center has been the foundation for O’BRIEN’S emergency response management services, which are provided to over 150 oil and gas company clients, as well as local, state and federal agencies. O’BRIEN’S also provides Qualified Individual (QI) and Spill Management Team (SMT) services to the shipping industry representing over 5,000 ships operating in U.S. territorial seas. Emergency calls received by O’BRIEN’S clients worldwide are managed from the Slidell Command Post and EOC.

The Slidell Command Post and EOC is staffed 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-per-year and is equipped with the latest technology including new proprietary response management software, web-based access to real-time response information from anywhere in the world, a digital phone system, enhanced computer server system and an uninterruptible power supply. Ben Benson, Vice President of Response Services at The O’BRIEN’S Group commented, “We have an unwavering commitment to provide the highest level of service to our clients and to fully comply with the regulatory requirements of our state and federal agency partners. This is an important milestone and will serve our clients and the Slidell community well into the future.”

Several public officials attended the ribbon cutting ceremony from the City of Slidell, including Mayor Ben Morris, Fire Chief Larry Hess, and John O’Neil, St. Tammany Parish Fire Services Director. Also present were Captain Paskewich of the U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans and Alton Bates of the Department of Interior and Minerals Management Service (MMS).

As a part of the welcoming home ceremony, Randall Blank, CEO of SEACOR Environmental Services (O’BRIEN’S parent company), presented Mayor Morris with a donation of $10,000 for the restoration and enhancement of Slidell’s radio communications equipment. “On behalf of the citizens of Slidell, I am pleased to accept this generous contribution from O’BRIEN’S, which will assist our community with its emergency preparedness initiatives,” said Mayor Morris.
