Norovirus Strikes Passengers on Three Alaskan Cruises
Two hundred seventy-six passengers became ill from suspected outbreaks of a contagious stomach virus aboard the cruise ship "Sun Princess" on its last three Alaskan voyages, the Health Canada said. After being quickly inspected by Canadian authorities, the empty ship left Monday at the end of the cruise season in British Columbia and Alaska for San Francisco.
On its last voyage, ending September 6th, 101 passengers and 14 crew members were reported sick. On the previous voyage, 145 passengers and 5 crew members were taken ill with vomiting and diarrhea, which are symptoms of the Norovirus.
