The ship, christened "CSCL Asia," took 16 months to be completed by South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries. Canada's Seaspan Container Lines, Ltd. will operate the 8,500-TEU container class "CSCL Asia," which is 1095 feet long and 140 feet wide, on a route between the Far East and North America. Last year, Samsung Heavy Industries won 25 orders to build container ships of 8,100 TEUs or more, claiming 30 percent of the global market for large container ships.
