When McMullen & Wing launched the newest of its Diamond Series, a 164' expedition superyacht, it used its slipway, recently refurbished with Vesconite Hilube bearings in its trolleys. The advanced polymer provides extremely low friction without lubrication.

Vesconite Hilube has a long wear life—more than 10 times that of bronze. Because it's internally lubricated, it doesn't need grease, so it's low maintenance and environmentally friendly. The material provides exceptional dimensional stability with a high load strength, and performs in dirty and grimy conditions, making it ideal for syncrolifts and slipways.

When launching a multi-million dollar vessel, especially the largest and heaviest produced by the boatbuilder, there is no room for miscalculations or failure. "The Vesconite bearings performed fine," said Michael Eaglen, McMullen & Wing Ltd CEO. "There can be no other way."

Builder of such notable yachts as Big Fish and America's Cup winner, Black Magic, McMullen & Wing Ltd is known for its innovative design and superior craftsmanship. It builds power and sail recreational, and commercial vessels.
