UK SAR Conference set for April

The Annual Search & Rescue conference, which will deliver case studies and key presentations from the RAF, Irish Coast Guard, Mexican Navy, RNLI, 1 Canadian Air Division and IRMF will be held April 21-23 in Portsmouth in the UK.

A poll conducted ahead of the conference found that 41percent of search and rescue professionals have the improvement of training, techniques and procedures as their outstanding priority for 2015.

The past 12 months has witnessed a shocking number of disasters requiring mass search and rescue operations, not least the missing Malaysian Airlines MH370, the Air Asia QZ8501, the ferry disaster off the coast of Greece and most recently the Airbus A320 crash earlier this week. These missions have tested the skills and capabilities of the SAR teams on scene, and highlighted the importance of seamless international coordination and interoperability.
