Saft, the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of advanced technology batteries for industry, has been awarded a multi-year contract, with a maximum value of $10 million, by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to supply the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps with BA 5372 primary lithium-manganese dioxide (Li-MnO2) batteries. This contract ensures the ongoing delivery of reliable and robust batteries to provide critical power to a host of portable military equipment including for example radios.

Backed by an industry-leading long battery life, high energy density and low self-discharge rates, Saft’s primary lithium batteries have been providing the U.S. military and militaries around the world with reliable power for more than two decades.

“Saft is very happy to further its longstanding relationship with this major military customer,” declared Igal Carmi, vice president of Saft’s Civil Electronics Division. “Ensuring the U.S. Army has the tools it needs to operate safely on the battlefield is critical, and we look forward to delivering the DLA with primary lithium military batteries that are designed to withstand the demanding mechanical and electrical conditions encountered in combat and during training exercises.”

With this new contract, Saft remains a leading supplier of primary lithium batteries to the United States military. The contract will be fulfilled from Saft’s Valdese, NC facility – the leading supplier of these types of military batteries through Middle East conflicts.
