Nor-Shipping 2017 will be welcoming an array of leading names from the Brazilian energy and shipping industries to Oslo and Lillestrøm from 30 May to 2 June. The leading maritime event week, which also arranged Brazilian activities in 2013 and 2015, is increasing its focus on the South American giant with a program of business and social arrangements tailored to deliver insights and build business bonds.

Brazil@Nor-Shipping will lift the lid on the opportunities, and challenges, facing one of the world’s most dynamic marketplaces. The initiative brings delegates together with high-level podium speakers from Brazilian companies, and Norwegian and international organizations with links to the country. Discussions will center on the latest developments, trends and prospects in a market where intelligence, on-the-ground-understanding and relationships are key business drivers.

“Brazil is a breath-taking market,” comments Nor-Shipping Director Birgit Liodden. “It is abundant in potential, resources and opportunities, but, like any other developing industry landscape, there are pitfalls and obstacles that must be negotiated.

“We are cementing the links between Norway and Brazil - a crucial trading partner – and exploring how we can meet challenges and opportunities together, sharing mutual long-term benefits.”

Brazil@Nor-Shipping will offer a half-day podium event on 31 May as its core activity. This features plenary sessions tailored to deliver maximum value, with three crucial themes up for discussion. Namely: The Brazilian economic outlook and the transition of the maritime/offshore industry; Brazil and the future of the ocean space - Developing sustainable industry; and, Transformation and disruptive technologies - Developing high tech maritime-offshore industries and smart regulation.

The sessions will involve a growing list of high profile speakers, such as Jorge Camargo, President of IBP – Brazilian Petroleum, Gas & Biofuels Institute, and Vice Admiral Wilson Pereira Lima Filho, Director of DPC – the Directorate of Ports and Coasts. Confirmed sponsors include Statoil, DOF Brazil, PGS and Solstad, amongst others.

In addition, a range of complementary activities – including the much anticipated Brazilian Night, one of the true highlights of the Nor-Shipping social calendar – are designed to help attendees network and build relationships with the decision makers that matter. Brazilian delegates will also be honored with a special mayoral reception at Oslo City Hall and a welcome event at the Brazilian Embassy.

Alongside Brazil@Nor-Shipping, the spotlight will also be shone on accompanying industry ‘hotspots’ Africa and Asia, with similar high quality programs of activity and speakers.

“There’s a world of opportunity within this industry,” Liodden concludes, “but you have to know where to look, how to access it and who you’re going to do business with. These hotspot programs are the answer - acting as a gateway to markets, knowledge and key individuals.

Further details of all hotspot activities will be released on the Nor-Shipping website in the coming weeks.
