Marquard & Bahls Expands Executive Board

Published Feb 4, 2016 8:47 AM by The Maritime Executive

Anke Schouten has been appointed as the fourth member of the Executive Board at Marquard & Bahls AG, with effect from February 1, 2016. Her responsibilities will include supervising the group’s HR activities as well as designing and implementing new organizational structures and processes.

The Executive Board of Marquard & Bahls AG has been expanded from three to four members as of February 1. The Supervisory Board has appointed Anke Schouten to the body as Chief Change Officer (CCO). She will lead the company with her fellow Board members Christian Flach (CEO), Claus-Georg Nette

(CFO) and Julio Tellechea (COO). This newly created position underlines the great importance of HR for the group’s future growth.

Anke Schouten has 26 years of experience in HR and change management and joined Marquard & Bahls in June 2012. Until now, she has served as Head of HR. In her new role, she is responsible for Human Resources, IT, Corporate Communication and Facility Management, as well as for the Change Office that coordinates the design and implementation of new organizational structures and processes.

The expansion of the Executive Board to four members is a decisive step in the company’s growth strategy in its core activities Oiltanking, Mabanaft and Skytanking. It will also allow for focusing on the further development of the organization as well as the necessary structures and processes.

Further to this change, CEO Christian Flach will serve as the Executive board member responsible for trading again. He hands over the tank storage logistics division to COO Julio Tellechea, who is also responsible for aviation fueling, dry bulk handling and upstream services. This change in the allocation of tasks creates a clear strategic differentiation between the more short-term trading business and the long-term investment business.
