Jill Mackie, vice president of public affairs for The Seattle Times Company, will join Vigor’s executive team as senior vice president of public affairs. “This is a pivotal position for Vigor and we’re excited to welcome someone of Jill’s caliber, reputation and values to our team,” said Vigor CEO Frank Foti. “Connecting with the communities where we live and work is at the heart of who we are as a company. With Jill’s leadership, we can do more to build stronger relationships and engage in open, honest and deeper dialogue with our communities.”

Mackie brings more than 20 years experience working in governmental and public affairs to the Vigor team. She has spent her career building strong and positive relationships with decision makers across political lines, industry associations and grass roots organizations working to build better communities. She currently serves on the boards for the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and the Pacific Northwest Newspaper Association. Throughout her tenure at The Seattle Times, she successfully advocated for policy change on a wide variety of issues at the national, state and local levels, led the company's internal and external communications and community relations efforts, and was a key partner with regard to the newspaper's corporate efforts to stop the state's de-funding of higher education via the publisher's Greater good Campaign.

Prior to joining The Seattle Times in 1999, Mackie served as vice president for government affairs and human resources for Pacific Lumber and Shipping Company in Seattle where she focused on international trade and the environment. Among her many achievements there, she successfully achieved the passage of federal legislation critical to the company’s operation and competitive position.

“As a life-long resident of the Pacific Northwest, I am delighted to have the opportunity to advocate for, and be part of Vigor, a nationally recognized maritime and industrial services company that builds, repairs and innovates in support of maritime and other industrial needs both regionally and across the country,” said Mackie. “I look forward to getting to know and becoming a tenacious advocate for Vigor and the skilled artisans who work at its operations in Oregon, Washington and Alaska.”

Mackie officially joins the Vigor team on October 14th.
