Gondan Shipyard and Naviera Nabia Sign Newbuilding Contract
Gondan Shipyard and Naviera Nabia have signed a newbuilding contract for a catamaran in Navalia 2016 International Shipbuilding Exhibition.
Gondan Shipyard played a leading part today in Navalia 2016 Exhibition, signing a new contract for the construction of a vessel for Naviera Nabia, part of Acuña Group, from Bueu (Pontevedra-Spain). This act took place in stand G13 and was attended by Mrs María Jesús Otero Acuña, manager of Acuña Group. From the shipbuilding company, Mr Álvaro Platero Díaz, President of Gondan Shipyard, was present, together with Mr Ceferino Ron Castrillón, Factory Director, as well as representatives from Gondan GRP Division. Local and regional authorities were also there, as Mr Abel Caballero, mayor of Vigo and the Provincial Council, Carmela Silva. This new catamaran will operate passenger routes near the Ria of Vigo.
The new vessel will be fully built using Glass Reinforced Polyester and will have capacity for 250 passengers at a cruising speed up to 15 knots, reaching its maximum speed at 20 knots. The catamaran will have a range up to 750 miles, a length of 24 meters and 8 meters breadth.
The new catamaran has been designed by Isenaval, a ship design company from Vigo, and will have an innovative and highly optimized hull that will reduce sea-sickness, lessening vertical acceleration thanks to its special side conducts, designed to displace water from the waves during the navigation.
With this new signing, Gondan Shipyard GRP Division keeps placing itself as one of the leading GRP shipbuilding companies in Spain, providing tailor-made technological solutions, for each Ship-owner from the Fishing, Transportation, Homeland Security or Defense Industries.
