Fincantieri Marine Group Receives Four National Shipbuilders Safety Awards

Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG) announced that all three of its US shipyards –Fincantieri Marinette Marine, Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, and Fincantieri ACE Marine, have received the annual “Excellence in Safety” award presented by the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA). Fincantieri ACE Marine also received the “Improvement in Safety” award.

“In a shipyard environment, with complex machinery and systems, safety is paramount,” said Matthew Paxton, President of the SCA. “The awards SCA presents recognize the stellar safety performance of the leadership of these shipyards and their commitment to safety is proven in the data. We are thrilled to recognize these companies and the hard-working men and women who reflect the shipyard industry’s culture of safety year after year.”

Fincantieri acquired the three Wisconsin shipyards in 2008, and since, has invested over $100M to build a flexible, lean network of facilities that offer government and commercial services in new construction of steel and aluminum, design, and repair. These safety awards are especially significant to the company because all three shipyards are considered in the top tier for safety in the country. This enhanced awareness translates into a standard of excellence for not only safety, but also quality and efficiency.

Fincantieri Marinette Marine, Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding and Fincantieri ACE Marine are three of 12 SCA member companies to receive awards for their continued advancement of employee safety in the shipyard industry. The Council represents 40 companies that own and operate over 82 shipyards across the country, and an additional 87 partner members that provide goods, services and engineering to the shipyard industry.
