Tundra Group Opens New Office in London on Historical HQS Wellington
Tundra, a leading Canadian provider of risk management and security services, announces the opening of a new London office. This is Tundra’s first UK office and is situated onboard the HQS Wellington, a pre-Second World War Royal Navy ship moored on the River Thames by Temple, which also serves as the headquarters of the Honorable Company of Master Mariners.
This office has been opened with the intention of offering improved support to the company’s growing UK client base, particularly in the maritime sector; as well as more broadly serving as another step in the group’s international growth.
Managing Director of Tundra's Maritime Division, Lee Rimmer said: “Considering the City of London’s importance to both the shipping and insurances industries Tundra has been aware of the need to increase our representation here for some time, and now with our maritime security operations expanding significantly we believe that this is the right moment.” Referring to the HQS Wellington he added: “It is a fitting location for our first UK office as the stability and steadfastness of this historic vessel are also reflective of Tundra’s core values and approach.”
Launched in 1934, HMS Wellington served as a convoy escort ship in the North Atlantic during the Second World War. She was purchased by the Honorable Company of Master Mariners in 1947 becoming the HQS Wellington. As the last remaining sloop of her kind, she is of considerable historical importance, representing a significant period in international maritime and British shipping history.
