Interactive Workshops to ?Cut Through the Fog? of Critical Issues in GoM

Published Dec 12, 2013 2:38 PM by The Maritime Executive

The industry’s top leaders in deepwater and floating facility abandonment will be on hand for frank discussions at the largest decommissioning and abandonment gathering in the world in Houston.

Felix Medine III, Staff C&WI engineer at Shell, and TETRA Offshore’s director of projects Chuck Webb will be among those taking part in special interactive workshops ahead of DecomWorld’s Annual Decommissioning & Abandonment Summit in March.

Delegates will get inside perspectives on the decommissioning options available for floating facilities, including TLPs, spars and FPSOs, plus access to expert reviews of the critical deepwater challenges thrown up by the trend towards deepwater operations in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM).

“The workshops are designed to cut through the fog that surrounds these critical issues by allowing delegates to ask the questions that matter to them, and by giving them a chance to hear the concerns and experience of their peers,” said DecomWorld project director Phil Chadney.

The workshops will also assess demand and supply challenges surrounding heavy lift vessels in the GoM.

Other experts taking part in the workshops include Gary Siems, decommissioning manager for Stone Energy, Lew Dennis, Gulf of Mexico decommissioning manager for Chevron, Eric Tumlinson, project manager for Sandridge Energy, and Commander Jim Rocco, Chief of the Offshore National Center of Expertise for the US Coast Guard.
