Voting Opens for IMRF People's Choice Award

Voting has opened for the International Maritime Rescue Federation's People's Choice Award, and the finalist attracting the most votes on Facebook will be announced as the winner on Thursday November 8.

The finalists are all exceptional individuals and organizations from around the world who go above and beyond in maritime search and rescue:

The IMRF is asking people to visit the page, read the nominations and “like” the finalist(s) they think are the most deserving. The finalist with the most Facebook likes at 16:00 GMT on Thursday, November 8, 2018 will be declared the winner of the IMRF People's Choice 2018.   

The 2018 IMRF Awards have a range of categories, all designed to give deserving nominees, an opportunity to be recognized for their actions, expertise and skills, when saving lives in exceptional circumstances. The award categories are for individual contribution, team contribution, innovation and technology, a lifetime achievement award and a Local Hero award nominated by the events host.

All of the winners of the IMRF Awards 2018 will be announced at the IMRF Awards ceremony and dinner on November 8. The event will be hosted by the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue at their training center, RS Noatun near Horten in Norway, following the IMRF's annual European Regional Meeting. 

The lead sponsor for the IMRF Awards 2018 is Orolia Maritime, which is also sponsoring the Team Award for the third year in succession. Inmarsat is sponsoring the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Individual Award is sponsored by CM Hammar. The Innovation & Technology Award is sponsored by Pole Star. The Awards Dinner is being sponsored by Swede Ship Marine. The Local Hero Award is sponsored by the Norwegian Seafarers Union; the Norwegian Union of Marine Engineers; the NSOF Novsk Sjooffisersforbund and Hansen Protection.
