Video: Man Falls From Cruise Ship
The U.S. Coast Guard said in a statement that on Friday its search-and-rescue crews were searching for a man in the water 80 nautical miles northeast of Mayaguana, Bahamas.
HC-130 and MH-60 aircrews from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater were dispatched to conduct the search.
At 0100 hours, the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Oasis of the Seas reported a missing 35-year-old man after he fell into the water during a cruise. The cruise ship launched two small boats to begin searching for the man, who was last seen to be wearing a pink shirt and white shorts.
Earlier media reports indicated that the man was a Brazilian national.
Video shows a confrontation between the man and crewmembers of the Oasis of the Seas. He is suspended over the side on the lifeboat davit, and appears to blame the crew for his position. He resists their attempts to pull him on board and then falls from the davit.
